About Us
About Lakeshore Community Concerts
Lakeshore Community Concerts is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit association. The organization was previously known as the Northwest Indiana Concert Association and it has been bringing high quality live performances to the Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland community for over 70 years.
We are supported financially through the sale of annual subscriptions and individual ticket sales, and through generous donations from our patrons. In addition to attending our performances, your donation to the Sustaining Fund will ensure our ongoing success as we continually strive to bring quality artists and experiences to the community.
Mission Statement
The mission of Lakeshore Community Concerts is to provide good music and entertainment for the community of Northwest Indiana and the surrounding areas. We offer quality live musical entertainment at affordable prices!
History
In 1947, an association called Hammond Community Concerts was formed as a member of Community Concert Associations under the auspices of Columbia Artists in New York City. Community Concert Associations was, and still is, a nationwide organization. When Columbia Artists disbanded, our organization joined with Live On Stage in Nashville, Tennessee. Each year board members attend a conference there where as many as thirty artists from all over the world are reviewed. From these we select our guest artists and create the program for the next season.
For many years the concerts were held at Hammond Tech High School, then later at Morton High School. Munster High School became our home, and soon thereafter, we became known as Northwest Indiana Concert Association. Because of a naming confusion between our group and the Northwest Indiana Symphony, we decided to relaunch as Lakeshore Community Concerts in 2016. During this relaunch, we also added refreshed branding, increased visibility, and online purchase capability.
