Our History

Hammond Community Concerts was formed in 1947 as a member of Community Concert Associations under the auspices of Columbia Artists in New York City. Community Concert Associations was, and still is, a nationwide organization. When Columbia Artists disbanded, our organization joined with Live On Stage in Nashville, Tennessee. Each year our board members attend a conference where as many as thirty artists from all over the world are showcased. From these we select our guest artists and create the program for the next season.

For many years the concerts were held at Hammond Tech High School, then later at Morton High School. Munster High School became our home, and soon thereafter, we became known as Northwest Indiana Concert Association. Because of a naming confusion between our group and the Northwest Indiana Symphony, we relaunched as Lakeshore Community Concerts in 2016 with refreshed branding and market visibility.
